Top 6 Shopping Problems Muslim Women Have While Shopping for Clothes

TOP 6 SHOPPING PROBLEMS MUSLIM WOMEN HAVE

Forgive me Allah (SWT) for ranting, but this is what my experience has been so far and I wish to share it with other Muslimahs who might have the same problems.

1. FABRIC

Often I will notice a dress that looks sooooooo pretty from far away but as I approach the clothing rack, I notice the material is very thin and/or transparent……

2. CUT

There are so many cute clothing pieces out there at stores like Forever 21, H&M, Primark, etc. but they lose my interest once I see the cutouts, short hems, tight fits, and NO SLEEVES!…….a big problem for people like me who live in warmer climates. I don’t want to wear a jacket when it is 100+ degrees outside!

3. PRICE

The articles of clothing that fit my style and will actually cover my body are usually expensive. I’m a college student that can’t justify spending hundreds of dollars for one jacket or dress. And don’t get me started on shipping prices…..

4. LOCATION

Going to the mall is always a window shopping experience because I can’t find anything acceptable. In addition, a lot of online stores that sell beautiful Islamic clothing don’t offer shipping to my location and/or don’t interest me because I like to try on clothes before I purchase them.

5. TIME

Shopping trips can take a toll on us Muslim women because it takes AGES to find what I like, and in many cases I come home empty-handed.

6. STYLE

A lot of stores have halal designs that are frumpy or have too much bling for my taste. In addition, it is difficult to find clothing that is modern and fits my lifestyle. I think that abayas and niqabs are great, but if I want to go the gym it’s not going to work out for me (pun intended).

For the reasons above, my mission in life is to design and create halal, beautiful, and modern clothing. It will take a lot of hard work, energy, and time to get to the level I envision, but Inshallah I will get there. I hope you enjoy following my journey 🙂 and I can’t wait to see what happens!

Please share your experience with shopping as a Muslimah 🙂 I would love to see your perspective.
