HIJAB DIY: HOW TO STUD YOUR SCARF
Do you have a lot of hijabs in your closet that are old-fashioned and out of style? Do not fear 😀 because this hijab DIY will help you bring them back to the 21st century.
In this tutorial we will be adding studs to our hijabs! I love how they add a sense of edginess and uniqueness that most scarves lack.
MATERIALS:
1.) STUDS
You can get these on eBay and they are very inexpensive!
2.) FLAT NOSE PLIERS
If you don’t have pliers, you can get away with some old tweezers. (Don’t use nice tweezers because they might get ruined.)
3.) HIJAB
As you can see, I used the scarf I made from the previous Hijab DIY: How to Make a Hijab Without Sewing
DIRECTIONS:
STEP 1: Lay your hijab in front of you on a flat surface. As you can see, I am using the floor haha.
STEP 2: Figure out which side will have the studs. The material of my hijab is the same on both sides so in my case it doesn’t matter.
STEP 3: Find out how you will stud the scarf. I spaced my studs along the edge to be about an inch (2.5 cm) apart all throughout the scarf.
STEP 4: Start studding! To do this you will push the stud into the fabric so that all four prongs will go through the material. Then you will fold the four prongs down with your pliers or tweezers. The folding should be pretty easy so don’t apply to much pressure as it might cause the stud to get scratched or misshapen.
I chose to fold over the fabric about 1/2 in and place the studs on top. It’s not necessary but I personally like it when I can’t see the edges of the fabric.
STEP 5: Continue this pattern until you are finished with your design.
VOILA! You have a beautifully studded scarf!
This is a super easy hijab DIY that can really add some character to a hijab! I hope you enjoyed it.
