WHAT’S IN MY BACKPACK? 2015: COLLEGE / UNIVERSITY HIJABI EDITION
Wow, I can’t believe that I am graduating with my Bachelor of Business in marketing this year, Inshallah! WOOT WOOT!!!!
I’ve been going to school for over three years, so I feel like I am a true veteran of the university experience and can give you some tips on the necessities!
If you want to know about my backpack and what I keep inside, here is the list:
1. Backpack
Brand: Ful
OMG this backpack is very spacious and functional. I love how many pockets it has and I feel so cool carrying it around :D.
If you are on the lookout for a University backpack, get something sturdy and large. In many instances, you will be lugging around heavy textbooks, laptops, binders, etc.
2. Planner
Brand: Camden
This baby keeps me organized and keeps me on track. Although I don’t follow everything that I set out to do ( like 90% of the time ) because of major senioritis issues, my planner is everything. I write all of my homework assignments, due dates, test dates, and meetings for group projects here.
3. Binder
I am taking five classes this semester but all I need is my 1 inch binder. Why? because as a business major, my classes are mostly lecture based and don’t require a lot of paper. All I like to keep in here are dividers to separate my classes, a pen/pencil, some scantrons, and notebook paper.
4. Wallet
Brand: Mundi
My wallet is a necessity because it carries my driver’s license, debt cards, school ID, and basically everything that I need to survive. I chose this wallet because I love the rich maroon color and the wallet has lots of space inside to store everything I need (including really old receipts haha).
5. Metro Card
I ride the Metro bus all the way to school so the my Metro Q card is a must. Parking is crazy at my University so taking public transportation is the best route for me.
6. Clicker
Some of my professors like to use these to take attendance 🙁 , and because of that I have to carry this expensive device around. It is kind of fun to use when a professor asks a question and we have to choose which answer we think is correct, but overall, I’d say this is my least favorite item in my backpack mehhh.
7. Pencil Box
Obviously, like most pencil boxes, it carries a few pencils. Other things I like to include are pens and highlighters. As a business student I don’t really need to lug around extra things like rulers or colored pencils.
8. Make-up Bag
Brand: Vera Bradley
Yay the fun stuff!
In this bag I just like to carry the essentials and maybe one or two fun things. As a female I am inclined to include a few lipsticks even though I never actually use them when I go to school.
Here is what’s in my cosmetics case:
Perfume Oils:
I love perfume oils a lot more than alcohol based ones. A majority of my collection is from Somethin’ Special because they are affordable and the ingredients are very clean. These scents are my favorite so far:
– Sexy for Her from somethingspecial.com
– Love Charm from somethinspecial.com
Christmas Memories Shea Butter Cream
This was a hand cream sample given to me by Somethin’ Special and it is a very sweet, cinnamon kind of smell. I love to use it when I’m with my friends because they can smell it from a few feet away and I distract them in class muahahaha.
Tom’s of Maine Deodorant – Calendula
I’m currently using this deodorant. I would say that it’s okay at the moment but I think I need something stronger. I love that it has natural ingredients and the calendula scent is very nice :D.
Burt’s Bees Ageless Hand Cream
Yes, another hand cream…but I couldn’t resist.
Alba Hawaiian Sunscreen
I love the ingredients in this sunscreen because it isn’t full of crap like most sunscreens have. The SPF is pretty good at 45 😀 and it doesn’t smell like that weird sunscreen smell. I always use this right when I get on the bus. It is awkward but I always forget if I don’t :D.
Bite Beauty 2014 Holiday Set
A set of four amazing lipsticks by Bite Beauty. I got this holiday set because again, I love the ingredients that this company uses and it was also a great deal. Buying an individual lipstick from Bite Beauty usually costs around $24, so getting 4 deluxe sizes at the same price was a no-brainer for me :D.
Hijab Pin
Oh my, where would a hijabi be without her hijab pins? I keep this inside my cosmetics case just in case I am having a bad hijab day.
If you want to see more of my hijab pins, make sure to check out my Etsy store.
9. Klean Kanteen Water Bottle
I live in Houston, Texas so my Klean Kanteen water bottle is a lifesaver. The weather here is way too hot a majority of the year so I have to make sure I stay hydrated throughout the day. I love the Klean Kanteen brand especially because their products are made responsibly, stainless steel, BPA free, and easy to clean because the rims of the bottle curve out (When they curve in like some bottles do, they collect a lot of gunk and bacteria.) If you want to learn more about Klean Kanteen click here. Obviously, I’m not getting paid to talk about them haha (not that I’m influential enough for that), I just really love the brand.
10. Phone
Brand: Samsung Galaxy S3
Last but not least, I bring my phone :D.
