HOW TO SHOP FOR MODEST CLOTHING: SILHOUETTES PART 2

In this part of the How to Shop for Modest Clothing Series, I share some examples of common outerwear silhouettes that work well with any modest woman’s wardrobe. By having these key pieces, you are sure to have a flexible closet that will allow you to dress yourself more efficiently.

KIMONOS

Kimonos have picked up on popularity over the past year and I am so glad! I love how loose they are and as a result I find that they are perfect for Summer weather. Kimonos come in a variety of prints and colors so matching should not be an issue đŸ˜€ .

BOYFRIEND BLAZERS

Blazers are a very versatile item for any modest woman’s wardrobe. They can be worn to work or business settings and dressed down to more casual looks as well. I tend to go for the oversized style, aka the “boyfriend” blazer because they are designed to be a little loose and longer in length. I’d say that a good blazer for the modest wardrobe should reach about mid thigh because it is a length that works well with the longer silhouettes that are in our closets. If you aren’t having any luck with finding the right boyfriend blazer, I highly recommend checking out the men’s section or visiting thrift stores.

FULL LENGTH ROBES & CARDIGANS

I am ALWAYS on the lookout for great maxi length robes and cardigans. I find that floor length outerwear is so elegant and effortless. I don’t have to worry about my bum showing at all and I can just pair it with a simple dress and leggings underneath. If you need to find this type of outerwear, I honestly think that the thrift store is the best option because it was a popular length decades back. I have noticed, however, that stores like Forever 21 and H&M are starting to sell floor length cardigans as they are becoming more trendy these days.Â
